5 New Cars that were Spied Testing in India in January
Carmakers test their new products before they launch them in the car market. This year, several models from multiple segments made their spy shot debut. Some of these have already hit the market, while others are yet to be launched. The CY 25 is shaping up to be one of the busiest within the auto industry as a host of new launches have been planned. There is a big batch of products that is slated for launch in the country.
Here are all the cars that were spied for the first time in 2025.

Mahindra XEV 7e

Essentially an all-electric equivalent of the XUV700, the XEV 7e will share visual cues with the latter. Technical specifications of the Mahindra XEV 7e are not out yet, Mahindra is expected to offer the 59kWh and 79kWh battery packs paired to a single motor that drives the rear wheels. Mahindra could also offer a dual-motor configuration, making it an AWD version.
Moreover, In December of last year, Mahindra also filed a new trademark for XEV 7e, which is expected to be the official name of this EV.

Maruti Suzuki Fronx Hybrid

A test mule of the Maruti Suzuki Fronx was recently spotted testing in Gurugram, Haryana in a completely undisguised. The test mule was identical to the current Fronx on sale. Internally codenamed YTB, the hybrid crossover will go on sale later this year and use the brand’s in-house HEV series hybrid powertrain.
The Fronx Hybrid is expected to come with the new 1.2-litre three-cylinder Z-series engine which has been made compatible to incorporate a battery and a motor. This engine made its debut with the fourth-generation Swift and Dzire launched in May and November 2024, but without the hybrid technology.

New Renault Duster

A heavily camouflaged test mule of the SUV has reportedly been caught on camera somewhere in Kerala.
The new-gen Duster will be based on Renault’s CMF-B platform. The SUV will be longer than its predecessor, measuring 4,340mm in length, though its wheelbase has been slightly reduced to 2,657mm.
Moreover, the third-generation Renault Duster will arrive in the Indian market soon, followed by its three-row variant. The regular version is expected to launch in the latter half of next year, while the three-row model is expected to arrive in 2026.
In the global markets, the new Duster is offered with three engine options: a 1.0-litre turbo-petrol engine, a 1.2-litre turbo petrol motor, and a 1.3-litre turbo petrol engine. There is also an option of a mild hybrid setup with two of the aforementioned options.

Tata Harrier EV

The Tata Harrier EV has been spied for the first time during the testing phase in India, revealing a lot of detail about its design and some key features.
The spy images, the upcoming electric Harrier looks quite identical as compared to its Internal Combustion Engine (ICE) counterpart. In Tata’s EV lineup, the Harrier EV mid-size SUV will be positioned above the Curvv EV compact SUV-coupe.
The Tata Harrier EV is expected to have an AWD option and will be supported by the brand’s acti.ev pure EV architecture. The details of the powertrain are not known. The EV is expected to get a 60-80 kWh battery pack which might be capable of offering a range in the vicinity of 500 km.

New-gen Hyundai Venue

The new-gen Hyundai Venue has been spotted testing in India for the first time. The next-gen Venue will have a similar shape as the outgoing model. The car is expected to feature a split headlamp setup with a large grille in the centre, while the rear gets a new set of LED tail lights.
The new-gen Venue will launch in India by October 2025. The new Venue is also likely to get an updated interior. Hyundai might offer ventilated front seats and a 360-degree camera; among other creature comforts.
The 1.0-litre turbo-petrol, 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol, and 1.5-litre diesel engines of the current model are expected to be carried forward.
