Commenting on this milestone, Unsoo Kim, Managing Director of HMIL, stated, “Hyundai Motor India has been a key contributor to the country’s vehicle exports. Over the past 25 years, we have expanded our reach across multiple international markets, highlighting India’s manufacturing capabilities.”
Among Hyundai’s most popular export models are the i10, Exter, Verna, Creta and Alcazar. The globally acclaimed Hyundai i10 family has surpassed the export milestone of 15 lakh units, while the Hyundai Verna family has crossed 5 lakh exports on a cumulative basis.
Hyundai has exported 10 lakh units to Africa alone. The company started shipping the Exter to South Africa in 2024. The Exter is the eighth made-in-India model for the South African market.
In CY24, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, Mexico, Chile and Peru were the largest export markets for HMIL by volume. Hyundai exported a total of 158,686 vehicles during the year.
Over the past 25 years, HMIL has shipped vehicles to more than 150 countries, contributing to India’s foreign exchange earnings through automotive exports.
Moreover, the automaker operates manufacturing facilities in Tamil Nadu. Hyundai’s achievement reflects the broader trend of international automakers expanding their Indian manufacturing operations for both domestic and export markets.
