Ferrari has announced its V12-powered flagship supercar, the 12Cilindri in the Indian market. Offered in both coupe and spider formats.
In India, the Ferrari’s latest V12 grand tourer starts at Rs 8.5 crore, with the Spider version priced at Rs 9.5 crore (ex-showroom). The deliveries will likely begin in the second half of the year.
Powertrain
The 12 Cilindri, the successor to the 812 Superfast, which comes in Coupe and Spider formats, equipped with a naturally aspirated V12 engine producing 830 hp.
The 12Cilindri comes with a naturally aspirated 6.5-liter V-12 engine that breathes deeply and revs to an ear-splitting 9500 rpm. The beastly engine that snarls under the long hood pumps out 830 horsepower and 500 pound-feet of torque, which is sent to the rear wheels via an eight-speed dual-clutch transmission. Between the copious power, rear-wheel-drive layout, and V-12 soundtrack, driving the 12Cilindri is a theatrical experience. It is also brutally quick, and we estimate it will hit 60 mph in just 2.7 seconds.
Performance
The 12 Cilindri leaps from 0 to 100 km/h in just 2.9 seconds, with a top speed of 340 km/h. The slightly heavier Spider version is not to be outdone, with a 0 to 100 km/h time of 2.95 seconds and a 0 to 200 km/h time of 8.2 seconds. Weights are 1560 kg for the coupé and 1620 kg for the Spider.
Design
In terms of styling, the 12Cilindri adopts a sophisticated look that is noticeably divergent from its immediate predecessor, the 812 Superfast, that had a more sculptural design. A standout cue that pays homage to the past is the black band across the face, which integrates the headlamps and is a clear reference to the Daytona’s Plexiglas snout.
Other notable areas are the black cockpit incorporating a glass roof, which is interrupted by an expansive “delta wing motif” on the body that flows into the prominent rear haunches. More glass is seen on the lipped rear boot lid (not for the Spider), which is joined by split light bar lamps and active flaps on either side, the latter being part of a comprehensive aerodynamic package.
