2025 Tata Harrier EV – 5-Star Safety Triumph in Bharat NCAP Crash

The Tata Harrier EV has just rewritten the book on electric SUV safety. It achieved the highest possible score in the Bharat NCAP crash tests in June 2025, thanks to rock-solid protection for both adults and children.
This article looks at what those crash test results reveal and why the Harrier EV safety rating matters. Read on to know how Tata electric SUV safety just reached a new high.

Understanding the Harrier EV Safety Rating in Bharat NCAP

Tata’s flagship EV cleared the Bharat NCAP crash test with a flawless score and walked away with a full 5-star rating. It earned 32 out of 32 points for adult occupant protection and 45 out of 49 points for child occupant protection.
Both the front offset deformable barrier and the side movable barrier tests returned perfect marks for safety. These results place the Harrier EV alongside very few vehicles that nail every category in India’s most demanding crash program.

What the Crash Test Results Reveal

In the frontal offset deformable barrier test, the Harrier EV delivered ‘good’ protection across the head, chest, pelvis, and limbs for both driver and passenger. It secured 16 out of 16 points here and matched that with a perfect 16 out of 16 in the side movable deformable barrier test.
The only slight drop came in the side pole impact test, where it was rated ‘acceptable’ rather than ‘good’. Overall, these crash test results show that the electric SUV’s body shell and restraint systems work in harmony to manage extreme forces.

Which Safety Features Made This Possible?

Tata loaded the Harrier EV with a very strong safety toolkit. Seven airbags come standard on higher trims, while six are fitted on entry-level models. It also includes electronic stability control, seatbelt pretensioners, and load limiters, plus ISOFIX anchors for rear outboard seats.
The ADAS suite on higher variants features level-2 functions like lane keep assist and driver attention warning. Tata even ensured pedestrian protection meets the strict AIS-100 norms, underscoring a holistic approach to crashworthiness.

What It Means for Tata Electric SUV Safety

The Bharat NCAP 5-star achievement marks the Harrier EV as the fourth Tata EV to secure a perfect safety rating. This further establishes Tata Motors’ reputation for prioritizing crash performance in its electric cars lineup.
It also raises the bar for other automaker competing in the electric SUV segment. This includes its closest rival, Mahindra XEV 9e.
For consumers, all this means more peace of mind when choosing an electric vehicle. For the industry, it signals that top-tier occupant protection is no longer an exception but an expectation.
