Volkswagen has officially revealed the name of its upcoming sub-4-meter SUV, set to be based on the Skoda Kylaq platform.
The automaker has revealed a few teaser images showing the badging and a brief shot of the front of the car.
The new Volkswagen Tera SUV will be based on the MQB A0 platform that underpins the Polo, T-Cross, Nivus, and Virtus in global markets. The same platform is used to develop the Taigun and Skoda Kushaq.
The Tera subcompact SUV will be under the 4 meter mark in terms of length, making it look slightly smaller (around 250 mm) than the Taigun compact SUV. The Tera, which could have a starting price well under Rs 10 lakh, would also serve as the most affordable Volkswagen car in India, making the carmaker’s lineup more accessible to buyers.
The new compact SUV is likely to be launched in our market in 2026.
Powertrain
The Brazil-spec Tera will be powered by a 1-liter turbo-petrol engine that delivers 115 PS and 178 Nm. This engine will be paired with either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic transmission.
