Skoda Kylaq
Skoda India has revealed its Kylaq compact SUV and announced its starting price: Rs 7.89 lakh (ex-showroom, India).
Skoda Kylaq, a name derived from the Sanskrit term for ‘crystal’, is the third vehicle from Skoda after Kushaq SUV and Slavia sedan to be based on the MQB-A0-IN platform and a part of Skoda’s successful “India 2.0” project.
Kylaq will be the Czech carmaker’s smallest SUV, which has been developed for the Indian market and most likely will be exported to other international markets.
DescriptionProduced at Skoda’s Chakan facility in Pune, the Kylaq is expected to have an annual production capacity of 50,000 to 70,000 units. With the compact SUV segment accounting for nearly 30 percent of sales in India.
The Skoda Kylaq will be available for booking from 2 December, with Skoda planning to reveal the complete pricing details at the Bharat Mobility Expo on 17 January 2025. Deliveries to customers are set to start soon after, on 27 January.
“The Škoda Kylaq is our first sub-4-meter SUV, designed in India and for India as a new entry point to our brand. India is key to our internationalization plans; it’s the world’s third-largest car market, and SUVs make up 50% of new vehicle sales. We want the Kylaq to welcome new customers who are looking in this popular and fast-growing segment. Adding to its appeal, the Kylaq marks the debut in India of our Modern Solid design language, with new visual accents. It also beckons with a wide choice of variants, colors, features, and a standard package of over 25 active and passive safety technologies. At a very competitive starting price of INR 789,000, the Kylaq is the most accessible Škoda model in India.”

Skoda Kylaq: Exterior

The Kylaq follows Skoda’s signature design language, featuring a bold grille, split LED headlights, and sleek LED DRLs. The top model will come equipped with all-LED lighting, while the entry-level version will have halogen lamps. The front bumper displays a large honeycomb design. Highlights on the sides are the roof rails, 17-inch dual-tone alloy wheels, and ORVM-mounted turn indicators.
Coming to the rear, the design shares some similarities with the larger Kushaq, though it gets simpler-looking square taillamps connected by a black trim strip. The rear bumper also features plenty of cladding and a prominent skid plate element.
