Maruti Suzuki will launch its first electric SUV, the e Vitara, at the Bharat Mobility Expo 2025. Previously called eVX.

Design

The e Vitara gets thick body cladding around the chunky wheel arches, Y-shaped LED headlamps, and connected taillamps. Moreover, the charging port is mounted on the front left fender. As for the rear door handles, they are positioned on the C-pillar.

Inside, the e Vitara gets a feature-packed cabin along with a dual-screen setup. The e Vitara is likely to get level 2 ADAS, a 360-degree parking camera, and an electronic parking brake with an auto-hold function. Along with this, several key features include wireless charging, front ventilated seats, automatic climate control, and cruise control.

Battery, specifications, and platform

The e Vitara will be available with two battery options: 49kWh and 61kWh, the larger of which will get an option for dual-motor AWD, which Suzuki has dubbed AllGrip-e. The batteries use LFP (lithium iron phosphate) ‘blade’ cells from Chinese battery giant BYD. The e Vitara’s dimensions are 4,275mm in length, 1,800mm in width, and 1,635mm in height, with a 2,700mm wheelbase, offering ample space for passengers and a large battery pack. The new Heartect-e skateboard platform, the e Vitara, was co-developed with Toyota and is entirely electric. The platform features integrated eAxles, which combine the motor and inverter.

Pricing

In terms of pricing, the base 49 kWh variant is likely to start around ₹20 lakh (ex-showroom), with the 61 kWh version reaching ₹25 lakh. The AWD model could be priced close to ₹30 lakh.
