Nissan begins exporting Made in India left-hand drive Magnite
  • First shipment of close to 2,900 units of the New Nissan Magnite LHD were exported to select markets in the LATAM region in January 2025
  • Over 7,100 units of the New Nissan Magnite are scheduled to be exported with the second wave in February 2025 to markets in the Middle East, North Africa, select markets in LATAM & Asia Pacific region
  • Manufactured at Nissan’s Alliance JV plant in Chennai, the New Nissan Magnite will now be exported to over 65+ global RHD (Right-Hand Drive) and LHD (Left-Hand Drive) markets
Nissan, the Japanese automaker, has started exporting the left hand drive versions of the Magnite. The Nissan Magnite, launched in India in October 2024, is now being exported as part of Nissan’s ‘One Car, One World’ strategy.
With the new Left Hand Drive system in the Nissan Magnite, the company is working to cater to the global market, to diversify and meet customer needs. The LHD Nissan Magnite is being manufactured at Nissan’s Alliance JV plant (RNAIPL) in Chennai.
Nissan Motor India has flagged off the first shipment of close to 2,900 units of the LHD variant of the New Nissan Magnite from Chennai from the Kamarajar Port (KPL – Ennore), India in late January 2025 to select markets in the LATAM region. This underscores Nissan’s ‘One Car One World’ strategy and highlights the Nissan Motor India’s commitment towards expanding its global footprint and transforming India into a global hub for exports.
Nissan’s export initiative strengthens India’s role as a key manufacturing hub. The company recently began exporting the Right-Hand Drive (RHD) version of the Magnite to South Africa, with over 2,700 units shipped within a month of its global launch. Since its debut in December 2020, the New Nissan Magnite has sold over 170,000 units globally.
Frank Torres, Divisional Vice President of AMIEO Region Business Transformation & President of Nissan India Operations, commented on the milestone, saying, “Nissan Motor India has been diligently working towards expanding its operations and reach, not just within the domestic market but also focusing on exports. In line with our export plans announced last year, we are delighted to begin exports of the New Nissan Magnite to Left-Hand Drive (LHD) markets. This is a significant achievement, and we look forward to serving new customers in these regions. The Nissan Magnite has been the cornerstone of our success in both India and global markets, and we are confident that this India-made vehicle will drive our export growth further.”

The Nissan Magnite comes equipped with amenities such as an 8-inch infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a 7-inch digital instrument display, air purifier, wireless phone charger, a 6-speaker Arkamys tuned sound system, ambient lighting with 4 colours, keyless entry with push-button start stop and cruise control. Safety is taken care of by six airbags, ABS with EBD, a 360-degree camera, rear parking sensors, a tyre pressure monitoring system and electronic stability control.
