SAVWIPL Announces Management Changes, Rejigs Leadership, Appoints New Brand Heads
Skoda Auto Volkswagen India (SAVWIPL) has announced two key appointments. Ashish Gupta, currently Volkswagen Passenger Cars Brand Director, will take over as Brand Director for Skoda India, succeeding Petr Janeba, who will return to the company’s global headquarters. Nitin Kohli will step in as the new Brand Director for Volkswagen.
The company stated that these leadership changes are part of its broader strategy to localize leadership and deepen understanding of the Indian market.
“The changes in leadership reflect our continued commitment to localization and development of capabilities within our Indian organization. Empowering strong Indian leaders remains a core element of our growth strategy, ensuring we stay agile, relevant, and better aligned with the evolving needs of our customers and the business environment.”
Janeba, who has been a part of the Skoda family since 2004 and played a crucial role in strengthening the brand’s positioning and driving customer-focused growth strategies during his time in India, is returning to Skoda Auto in Czech Republic on completion of his tenure here, SAVWIPL said in the statement.
Skoda Auto Volkswagen India manages five brands — Volkswagen, Skoda Auto, Audi, Porsche and Lamborghini — under it.
Commenting on the same, Jan Bures said, “Ashish and Nitin have consistently delivered impact with agility and customer-centric thinking. Their appointment is not just a leadership change; it signals a broader shift in how we are building resilient, future-ready teams from within India.”
The transition is aligned with SAVWIPL’s broader efforts to strengthen local capabilities and drive future-ready brand strategies in India.
