The Global NCAP, a well-known safety organization, checks vehicles for how well they protect adults and children if an accident happens. The list reveals 15 vehicles that received the highest rating under the newly updated tests.
Global NCAP Testing Protocols
Global NCAP’s crash tests try to show what would happen in a real car accident to see how safe the actual cars are and how strong the body is. The new rules also take into account frontal crash tests (done at a speed of 64 km/h) and side impact tests.
Vehicles are scored on:
- Adult Occupant Protection (AOP): Maximum score of 34 points
- Child Occupant Protection (COP): Maximum score of 49 points
A five-star rating means the car is very safe for both adults and kids.
Significance of 2025 Safety Ratings
These results are coming at a time when more people are paying attention to vehicle safety and the government is also putting a stronger focus on it in India. The Bharat NCAP program, which started in 2023, helps make Indian vehicles meet similar safety standards as those used around the world.
“Indian consumers are becoming more conscious of vehicle safety, and manufacturers are responding by prioritizing structural improvements and adding advanced safety features,” said an industry analyst who knows how Global NCAP tests cars.
Key Highlights
- The Tata Harrier and Tata Safari turned out to be the top cars, both scoring the same 33.05 for adults and 45 for kids.
- The Maruti Dzire is the least expensive car out of all the models in 2025 that can get a full five-star safety rating.
- Electric vehicles such as the Tata Punch EV and Tata Curvv EV also did well in the five-star group.
- Most models now have things like six airbags, ABS, ESC, ISOFIX mounts, and other new safety features.
Government and Industry Push
The Indian government is aiming to cut down deaths from road accidents by half by the year 2030. In support of this, the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) regularly makes new rules to help make vehicles safer and also helps raise awareness among passengers and drivers.
What is in it for you?
The 2025 Global NCAP ratings help Indian car buyers find safer cars to buy, no matter what their budget is. With models that go from small cars to big SUVs, the Indian auto market is seeing more focus on safety in their designs and how cars are made. Consumers should look at how cars did in crash tests and check what safety options they have before deciding to buy one.
