The Golf GTI will come to the Indian market via the CBU route and its price could go north of Rs 45 lakh (ex-showroom).

Volkswagen Golf GTI India launch date has been announced. The hot-hatch will be launched on 26 May. Pre-bookings for the high-performance Golf GTI hatchback opened on May 5, 2025. The performance-focused Golf GTI, will be brought in as a fully built unit (CBU).

Notably, the first batch of 150 units has already been booked, and Volkswagen has currently paused new bookings.

Expected Price & Competitors

The Golf GTI is expected to be priced at Rs 45 lakh (ex-showroom),and will compete directly with the Mini Cooper S in the Indian market.

Powertrain & Performance

The Volkswagen Golf GTI is powered by a 2.0L, 4-cylinder turbo petrol engine, which comes mated to a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. This setup generates a maximum power of 245bhp and a torque of 370Nm.

Top Speed

The top speed of the Golf GTI is limited to 250 kmph, the hot hatch is capable of going from 0-100 kmph in 5.9 seconds.

The hatchback will be available in four colors:

Kings Red
Grenadilla Black
Oryx White
Moonstone Grey

Volkswagen Golf GTI Features

On the feature front, the GTI is expected to be equipped with a large 12.9-inch touchscreen for infotainment and a 10.25-inch fully digital driver display. Features like Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and connected car tech are likely to ensure smooth connectivity. Additionally, it will offer tri-zone climate control, a panoramic sunroof, wireless charging, and a heads-up display for driver’s convenience.

Volkswagen Golf GTI Safety Features

On the safety front, the Golf GTI will be equipped with 6 airbags, electronic stability control (ESC), all-wheel disc brakes, and level 2 advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS).
