Autocar India’s photographer captured the camouflaged VF6 as it was cruising along Mumbai’s Bandra-Worli Sea Link. This was during early afternoon trials.

These road tests are part of VinFast’s strategy to fine-tune compatibility with local charging stations and real-world driving conditions.

Word is VF6 is clocking city runs, highway stints, and third-party charger trials. All this is to ensure the car handles India’s diverse roads.

What does the VinFast VF6 India spy photo reveal?

The uncovered panels show a sloping roofline that blends into a sculpted tailgate with a full-width LED bar. Up front, two sharp LED strips kink downwards to form a bold ‘V’ motif around the badge. The lower bumper houses a honeycomb-pattern air dam and modest plastic cladding for some rugged flair.

The side view teases 18-inch alloys, flush door handles, and a charging port on the fender. Inside, reporters spotted a 12.9-inch touchscreen angled towards the driver and no conventional instrument cluster. VinFast has gone for a colored heads-up display instead.

How will VF6 price stack up?

Industry experts are looking at a competitiveVinFast VF6 price in the ₹18-24 lakh (ex-showroom) range. This is mainly thanks to local CKD assembly in Tamil Nadu. Such a positioning could undercut several rivals such as Hyundai Creta Electric, Tata Curvv EV, and MG Windsor EV.

With pre-bookings already open for a ₹21,000 token, buyers are keen to see if VinFast can deliver on value without trimming essential features. Early talks suggest the entry-level Earth trim will hit the lower end of the VF6 price spectrum while a higher-spec Wind variant will land near the top.

What are the VF6 range and specs?

A 59.6 kWh battery pack powers a single front-axle motor. It sends 204 hp and 310 Nm of torque to the wheels. VinFast claims a WLTP-certified range of 480 km. However, real-world figures could settle around 400 km.

Acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h is pegged at 8.9 seconds. The SUV can potentially support up to 7.2 kW AC fast charging.

This combo of performance and practicality is great city commuting and weekend escapes, which happens to be a core promise of VF6 range and specs.

When is the VF6 launch expected?

VinFast plans to have an India launch in festive season. The VF7 could debut first and the VF6 may follow shortly after. Dealers in major metros are already displaying the SUV.

As for local production, it’s already begun at the new Thoothukudi plant; in TamilNadu. We can anticipate an official launch window around September-October 2025, which is just in time for Diwali.

Around that time, full pricing, variant details, and feature lists may be confirmed. Until then, these spy snapshots give us the clearest preview of VinFast’s affordable EV entry.
