1 Tata Nexon EV Curvv EV To Get Unlimited Battery Warranty
Tata Motors will soon introduce lifetime battery warranty for the Nexon EV (45 kWh) and Curvv EV, addressing long-term ownership concerns and setting a new standard in the Indian EV market.
This ‘lifetime’ warranty spans 15 years from the vehicle’s initial registration date at the local RTO office.
Tata also mentions that the new lifetime warranty on the battery is now applicable to all customers who have bought the Curvv EV and Tata Nexon EV 45 kWh since their launch.
However, it should be noted that this benefit can only be availed by the first owner.
The lifetime battery warranty is actually a good move by Tata, as it would give buyers much more confidence to buy EVs.

Lifetime Battery Warranty

Eligibility & Conditions of the Nexon EV and Tata Curvv EV lifetime warranty

  • New Buyers (45 kWh variants only): This offer is primarily for new customers purchasing these specific EV models.
  • Owners whose vehicles are registered in the name of private individuals: This is a key condition. The warranty is primarily for personal use vehicles.
  • Existing Owners of the Tata Curvv EV and Nexon EV (45 kWh variants only): This is a fantastic retroactive benefit that allows current owners to also enjoy the extended warranty.
  • Owners whose vehicles are registered in the name of private individuals: This is a key condition. The warranty is primarily for personal use vehicles.
  • Vehicle must be serviced at authorized TATA.ev service stations: These services and repairs must adhere to the maintenance schedule recommended by Tata Passenger Electric Mobility Limited.
  • Registration in a private individual’s name: This suggests that commercial fleet operations might not be eligible.
  • No transfer to third party (for lifetime benefit): If the vehicle is transferred or sold to any third party (i.e. a second owner onwards), the warranty terms change. The warranty reverts to a standard 8 years or 1,60,000 km for the second registration onwards. Owners must inform Tata Motors about the ownership transfer, or the battery warranty will not be offered.
  • Active & uninterrupted IRA.ev connection: The vehicle must maintain an active and uninterrupted connection to the IRA.ev (Tata’s connected car platform) throughout the entire ownership period.
  • Battery condition: The high-voltage (HV) battery must be free from any physical damage or tampering. In case of replacement/repair during the warranty, TATA.ev will ensure the energy capacity of the HV battery is brought to a value equal to the steady-state SOH (State of Health) before replacement or at 80%, whichever is higher.
