Skoda is preparing for a major step into the future with its next generation Octavia, which will come in an all electric version. The company has now released a fresh teaser, giving a closer look at the Vision O concept. This concept acts as the design and technology base for the future Octavia EV. The official debut will take place at the Munich IAA auto show in September 2025.
The Octavia EV is expected to go on sale around 2029 and will be built on the Volkswagen Group’s new SSP electric platform.
The new teaser images highlight some of the important changes inside the cabin.
Another key detail shown is Skoda’s focus on sustainability. The car uses 3D printed headrests made from plant based compostable materials. This supports the company’s aim to reduce environmental impact and lower the carbon footprint of its cars
Earlier teasers of the concept revealed the exterior outline which shows a big shift in the design of the future Octavia.
Skoda describes this design as part of its new Modern Solid design language which will be seen in all upcoming next gen cars. While the Vision O concept looks somewhat similar to the Audi A6 Avant e-tron, the lighting signature makes it clear that this is a Skoda product.
The next-gen Octavia EV will sit on the SSP platform, which it will share with the VW ID.Golf. However, Skoda is expected to give the Octavia EV a longer wheelbase. This change will create more space for passengers and a larger boot area, making it a very practical choice for families.
The SSP platform also supports 800-volt fast-charging architecture. This means shorter charging times and better efficiency compared with older systems. For long-distance drivers, this feature will be highly valuable, as it reduces waiting times during charging stops.
Skoda has already seen success in the EV market with models such as the Elroq and Enyaq SUVs. The company is also preparing the Epiq subcompact electric SUV, which is expected to make its debut in 2025. The Epiq could also reach India, as part of the company’s India 3.0 strategy, under which multiple new electric cars are planned for launch in the coming years.
The Octavia EV will play an important role in strengthening Skoda’s electric vehicle lineup, offering buyers a mix of practicality, modern design, and advanced charging tech.
