Bharat NCAP has introduced new stickers with a QR code that can be scanned by customers to check the safety ratings of their cars.
These stickers, designed to raise consumer awareness, will be visible on all new vehicles that have been crash-tested under BNCAP norms.
The code will provide buyers with detailed information about the crash test results for that particular vehicle. The labels will display the Bharat NCAP logo, a QR code, the manufacturer’s name, the model of the vehicle, the date of testing, and the safety ratings for both child and adult occupants.
This initiative by BNCAP is part of a broader effort to make safety ratings more transparent and accessible to the general public.
The stickers will be provided to all OEMs for vehicles that have undergone testing under the Bharat NCAP program.
The Bharat NCAP program was launched by the Indian government in October 2023 and has since evaluated multiple cars; these include the Harrier, Safari, Nexon EV, and Punch EV.
All models evaluated so far have secured a full five-star rating for both adult and child occupant safety.
The program is also tipped to release results for Maruti Suzuki cars in the near future, as pictures of the Grand Vitara undergoing safety tests have surfaced online.
More vehicles are to be tested by Bharat NCAP, and the results will be live accordingly.
