- The Duster's re-entry will bring renewed excitement into India's highly competitive mid-size SUV segment.
- The all-new 2026 Renault Duster will be based on the CMF-B modular platform, which has been co-developed by Renault and Nissan.
Renault Duster SUV will be officially unveiled on January 26 in the Indian market. This marks the return of one of the country’s most iconic SUVs, now in its fourth-generation avatar.
It will be underpinned by the CMF-B modular platform, jointly developed by Nissan and Renault. This will also underpin the upcoming Nissan Tekton.
The Duster SUV was first launched in the country in 2012 and earned popularity among Indian consumers. However, it was later discontinued and is now being brought back into the country.
The Duster’s return is a crucial part of Renault’s new ‘International Game Plan 2027’. The model is also pivotal to Renault’s India-focused ‘renault. rethink’ product strategy.
Played Major Role In popularizing the compact and mid-size monocoque SUV segment
Introduced in 2012, the Duster is often credited to popularize the compact SUV trend by offering an affordable, family-friendly SUV with a premium feel, it opened up a new segment of the market and became a huge success.
Renault Duster has been one of the strongest nameplates in India. It practically birthed the 4.2m to 4.4m SUV space, which today, is the most contested and sought-after segment in the country.
The Duster’s strong road presence, aggressive styling, and high ground clearance appealed to Indian buyers who desired the “macho image” of an SUV.
However, more feature-rich competitors like the Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos quickly entered the market and overshadowed the aging Duster.
Fresh Design
The all-new Renault Duster will come with a completely new, rugged, and muscular design inspired by the Bigster concept. Features Y-shaped LED DRLs and taillights.
Dimensions
The new Duster will measure 4345mm in length, 1822 mm in width, and 1660 mm in height. It will have a wheelbase of 2658mm and a ground clearance of up to 212mm.
Expected Features
Expected to be much more premium with a modern layout, featuring:
- 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system.
- 7-inch digital instrument cluster.
- Wireless Android Auto/Apple CarPlay, wireless charging, automatic climate control, etc.
Safety Features
The New Renaut Duster is expected to feature Level 2 ADAS (Advanced Driver-Assistance Systems), a 360-degree camera, and multiple airbags on higher variants.
Competitors
Once launched, the all-new Renault Duster will compete with Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder, Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, Tata Curvv, Honda Elevate, Skoda Kushaq, Volkswagen Taigun and MG Astor.
