Fresh spy images reveal the SUV in partial camouflage. The covered front and rear bumpers point to a change in design. The overall shape of the Hector remains the same, but the bumpers appear to carry a new layout. This is normal for a mid-cycle refresh. Instead of a full redesign, MG seems to be planning a lighter update with visible styling changes

The headlamps, sheet metal, and other visible parts look similar to the model on sale right now. The sleek LED DRLs, LED headlamps, and the ADAS radar unit also remain unchanged. The body lines also seem to match the present version

2026 MG Hector Facelift Interior And Feature Changes Expected

Inside the SUV is expected to get a few useful upgrades. Reports suggest the upcoming model may have ventilated rear seats, something that was not offered earlier. The cabin could also include fewer physical buttons for a cleaner look along with the same 14 inch touchscreen but with faster response and smoother operation

A new set of bigger 19 inch alloy wheels may also be part of the update. This will help the Hector match rivals such as the Tata Sierra, which also offers large wheels in its higher trims

2026 MG Hector Facelift Engine Details

The facelift is likely to continue with the same engine options. MG is expected to retain the 1.5 liter turbo petrol engine that makes 141 bhp and 250 Nm. The company may also keep the 2.0 liter diesel motor that produces 168 bhp and 350Nm. These engines have been part of the Hector lineup for a long time so the facelift may not bring any major change under the hood

A diesel automatic would be a strong addition and many buyers hope MG considers it, but there is no confirmation yet

The updated Hector is expected to be shown in 2026. Testing has already begun so the reveal could take place early next year. The SUV continues to sit in the highly active mid size SUV space. It will take on models like the Tata Harrier, Tata Safari, Mahindra XUV700 (possibly renamed XUV7XO), and the Scorpio range

The Hector has been an important model for MG in India. Its last major refresh arrived at the start of 2023. Now, with the market growing stronger in both ICE and EV categories, MG seems ready to bring a fresh version to keep the model competitive

The push for a facelift also connects directly to the SUV’s recent sales numbers. Over the past 12 months the MG Hector has seen a clear drop in demand. Sales were the lowest in October 2025 with only 225 units sold. In total MG sold 8,414 units in the last 12 months, compared to 21,474 units the year before. This means the SUV lost 13,060 units in volume on a year over year basis

The best month in the last year was December 2024, when 1,373 units were sold. In 2025 the highest monthly number came in May with 1,098 units. Every single month in this period recorded a decline compared to the same month a year earlier
