Understanding the GST Rate Changes
The recent GST revisions have led to the following changes in tax slabs for ICE vehicles:
- Sub-4 metre (petrol): Reduced from 29% (28% GST + 1% cess) to 18%, resulting in an 11% reduction.
- Cars over 4 metres in length with engine capacity up to 1,500cc: Reduced from up to 45% (28% GST + 17% cess) to 40%, resulting in a 5% reduction.
- SUVs (above 4 metres in length with engine capacity exceeding 1,500cc): Reduced from up to 50% (28% GST + up to 22% cess) to 40%, resulting in a 10% reduction.
These changes have enabled Citroën to pass on the benefits to customers, making their vehicles more affordable.
