India’s electric vehicle scene is about to get a serious shake-up. Kia is gearing up to launch the Carens Clavis EV—a bold, family-sized electric MPV that promises to blend practicality with cutting-edge tech.
This isn’t just another EV; it’s a seven-seater designed for real-world Indian families who want space, safety, and serious range.
With up to 490 km of ARAI-certified driving range, dual battery options, and fast-charging capabilities, the Clavis EV is ready to challenge the status quo.
Expect a cabin packed with smart features, twin digital displays, and Kia’s latest connected tech. And with Level 2 ADAS onboard, it’s not just spacious—it’s smart and secure.
Launching July 15, this could be the most accessible electric people-mover India’s seen yet.
Ex-showroom prices for the Kia Carens Clavis EV are expected to range from Rs. 20.00 Lakh to Rs. 26.00 Lakh, undercutting some rivals.
This positions the Carens Clavis EV against the Hyundai Creta Electric, MG Windsor EV and BYD eMax 7. With seven seats and a 490 km certified range, it sets a new benchmark for value in electric MPVs.
Variant | Ex-Showroom Price |
---|---|
Base (42 kWh) | Rs. 20.00 Lakh |
Long-Range (51.4 kWh) | Rs. 26.00 Lakh |
The Kia Carens Clavis EV makes its India debut on July 15, marking Kia’s first mass-market electric MPV.
Built on the Creta Electric platform, it packs a front-mounted 171 hp motor and 255 Nm of torque. With two battery options and a family-friendly layout, it aims to lead the electric MPV segment.
Choose between a 42 kWh pack for 390 km of ARAI-certified range or a 51.4 kWh pack for 490 km on the latest Kia Carens Clavis EV.
Both battery packs feed the 171 hp motor and support up to 50 kW CCS2 fast charging. Regenerative braking and drive modes further stretch your real-world range toward 420 km.
Variant | Battery (kWh) | ARAI Range | Fast-Charge (10→80 %) | Motor Output |
---|---|---|---|---|
Base | 42 | 390 km | 35 min @ 50 kW | 171 hp / 255 Nm |
Long-Range | 51.4 | 490 km | 50 min @ 50 kW | 171 hp / 255 Nm |
The Clavis EV retains the familiar MPV silhouette with subtle EV-only cues for smoother airflow.
A sealed-off grille houses the charging port, while “ice-cube” LED fog lamps sit low on the bumper.
Sealed aero wheels, a slim LED rear light bar and a silver garnish under the flap boost efficiency.
Twin 12.3-inch digital screens handle infotainment and the instrument cluster in a clean, decluttered dash.
The floating center console replaces the gear stalk with extra storage, a wireless charging pad and updated controls.
Kia Connect live services power over-the-air updates, remote diagnostics, and live traffic on your digital dashboard.
Key cabin features:
Top-trim models offer Level 2 ADAS, including adaptive cruise, lane-keep assist, and automatic emergency braking.
Standard safety kit comprises six airbags, ESC, VSM, ABS with EBD, hill-start assist, and all-wheel disc brakes.
A 360° camera, blind-spot monitoring and tire-pressure monitoring round out this family EV’s defenses.
Families get the rare combination of a seven-seat layout, long 490 km ARAI-certified range, and Level 2 ADAS. Fast CCS2 charging, Kia Connect tech, and a well-equipped cabin add to the value equation.
As India’s electric MPV market evolves, the Kia Carens Clavis EV aims to be the go-to family EV, offering space, tech, and range in one package.
