Kia India has teased the EV9 electric SUV ahead of its launch on October 3. The EV9 will be brought to India as a CBU and will be the company’s flagship offering.

Kia’s introduction of the EV9 marks a significant step in its strategy to expand its electric portfolio in India and aligns with the country’s push toward greener mobility solutions.

The EV9 electric SUV is based on the E-GMP skateboard electric platform, measuring 5,010mm in length, has a wheelbase of 3,100mm, and offers either a 6- or a 7-seater setup.

The Kia EV9 will retain the silhouette of the global-spec car. In the Indian market, the Kia EV9 will boast design elements like a blanked-off grille, 21-inch alloy wheels, and GT-spec front and rear bumpers. It is expected to receive features like connected car technology, Level 2 ADAS suite, 360-degree camera, multi-zone climate control, powered tailgate, lounge function for the second row, electrically adjustable seats, and ventilated seats for the second row.
Internationally, the Kia EV9 comes with two battery options: a 76.1kWh unit and a larger 99.8kWh unit. The rear-wheel drive (RWD) variants feature a single motor with an EPA-estimated range of 370-489 km. The all-wheel-drive (AWD) version, equipped with dual motors, offers a range of 435-451 km per charge.

The EV9 is expected to be priced above Rs 1 crore (ex-showroom), making it competitive with luxury electric SUVs like the Mercedes-Benz EQE SUV, BMW iX1, and Audi Q8 e-tron.
