South Korean carmaker Kia Corporation’s Indian subsidiary, Kia, has reached a major milestone by exceeding 2.50 lakh vehicle exports in India. Since 2019
On Thursday, Kia India announced that it had achieved a milestone of exporting over 250,000 vehicles from its Anantapur manufacturing facility.
The Seltos have played a major role, making up 59% of the brand’s total exports from India.
Moreover, Sonet and Carens contribute 34% and 7% to the company’s international shipments, respectively.
Kia India further stated that its Anantapur plant is a key export hub for Kia Corporation.
Currently, the carmaker exports to more than 100 global markets from its production plant, with the primary destinations being South Africa, Chile, Paraguay, and various countries in Latin America. They have a network of 588 touchpoints across 265 cities.
Speaking on the achievement, Myung-sik Sohn, Chief Sales Officer, Kia India, stated, “Our dedication to quality and innovation has driven us to this milestone. The success of our Made in India vehicles internationally shows our commitment to quality. We’ve quickly become a major market for Kia Corporation, and we aim to maintain this momentum. While our focus is on the domestic market, we plan to keep our exports steady this year.”
Kia India has introduced five models to the Indian market: the Seltos, Carnival, Sonet, Carens, and EV6. The company has dispatched over 1.2 million vehicles from its Anantapur plant, including more than 9.80 lakh units sold domestically and over 2.50 units exported.
The carmaker has recently shifted its focus towards the domestic market, with plans to manufacture 90% of its products for India this year.
