Mahindra plans to enter left hand drive (LHD) regions for the first time including parts of Europe. The brand will continue strengthening its presence in right-hand-drive (RHD) countries as well.
These new markets will be served by vehicles built on the NU_IQ and INGLO architectures. Since both platforms can support combustion engines and electric setups Mahindra will be able to tune each model for the rules and demands of different regions.
Mahindra Targets High-Demand Segments
The company aims to begin its global journey with:
- Compact SUVs
- Lifestyle pickups
These segments are growing faster worldwide, and Mahindra believes it can compete more confidently here based on demand trends.
Mahindra’s NU_IQ And INGLO Platforms
The two platforms will play a central role in the brand’s future portfolio. INGLO will support Mahindra’s upcoming Born Electric SUV range, while NU_IQ is designed for compact and midsize SUVs along with future pickups.
What NU_IQ Offers
NU_IQ marks a fresh beginning for Mahindra in the compact vehicle space. Older models like the Quanto and KUV100 didn’t match expectations due to design and space limitations. NU_IQ has been developed to fix these issues with better proportions and a focus on user comfort.
Key targets with NU_IQ include:
- 2665 mm wheelbase
- 937 mm rear legroom
- 1563 mm seating point for better driving position
- Five-link rear suspension for added comfort
These numbers show Mahindra’s attempt to offer a more premium ride and cabin space in segments where room and layout can become challenging.
Mahindra Places Strong Emphasis On Safety
Safety forms a major part of the NU_IQ platform. Models using this base aim for five-star ratings in Global NCAP, Euro NCAP and ANCAP. The company has filed more than 100 patents for structure and crash protection, reflecting a clear focus on engineering strength rather than cost-cutting.
Mahindra’s Launch Timeline And Product Plan
The first NU_IQ-based SUVs will include both ICE and EV options. At least three models are planned in the initial phase. These will include compact SUVs for India and slightly larger versions intended for other global markets.
NU_IQ is designed as a long-term platform that can support multiple body styles and vehicle categories for years to come.
Features expected on these new models include:
- Level 2+ ADAS
- Advanced connected interiors
- Multi-terrain drive modes
- Improved comfort and handling over ladder-frame models
Mahindra Vision.SXT Pickup: What To Expect
Earlier this year, the company showcased the Vision.SXT pickup concept, built on the NU_IQ electric platform. The concept points to Mahindra’s next design direction, combining rugged proportions with modern styling suited for global markets.
Design Elements Of The Vision.SXT
- Flat bonnet with visible latches
- Wide, flared wheel arches
- Chunky tires for tough-road appeal
- Split grille with horizontal slats
- Square headlamps with vertical LEDs
- Square tail-lamps with vertical light bars
- Tailgate-mounted spare wheel
- Functional flatbed for mixed lifestyle and utility use
New Direction For Mahindra’s Global Plans
With NU_IQ and INGLO guiding product development, Mahindra is positioning itself to take a larger share of the global SUV and pickup market. The company’s 2027 rollout marks the start of a long-term plan to expand into new regions, strengthen safety and improve product appeal worldwide.
