Spy images of what appears to be a pre-production test mule have surfaced online. Mahindra has also used taillights from the first-gen Scorpio to hide its identity.
Mahindra has trademarked the ‘Scorpio X’ name, which could be seen on an upcoming model
According to Mahindra, the Scorpio-N-based Global Pik Up will be powered by the Gen-2 mHawk diesel engine. It can be paired with either a 6-speed manual or automatic transmission and comes with 4-wheel drive.
The Scorpio is based on the same ladder frame chassis as the Scorpio. It will be powered by the 2.2-litre and also the new 1.99-litre mHawk diesel engine. It will generate a power of 118 bhp and 280 Nm of torque. The engine is mated to a five-speed manual transmission. It will be exported to the international markets as well.
The Scorpio pickup concept was shown in South Africa last year. Internally called Z121, the model will be a global offering and will be sold in markets like South Africa, Australia and the Middle East.It is expected to enter into production somewhere around 2025. If they price it well in the Indian market, the Mahindra Scorpio N based pickup truck will give Isuzu V-Cross and Toyota Hilux a tough competition.
