The most popular models under this bracket are the Mahindra XUV 3XO, Tata Nexon, and Kia Sonet.
Being compact SUVs, they’re all similarly sized, but the XUV 3XO is the widest, tallest, and has the longest wheelbase of this trio, if only by a few millimeters. The Sonet is the narrowest. The Nexon is the lowest, but it boasts the highest ground clearance of 208mm.

9,000 units of the Mahindra XUV 3XO were dispatched in September, which led to the SUV commanding a market share of over 15 percent.
The Kia Sonet and Hyundai Venue were the next sub-4m SUVs in line that crossed the 10,000-unit sales mark in September. The year-on-year (YoY) sales of the Sonet grew by almost 9 percent.
Tata Nexon, including its EV variant, experienced a significant decline in sales this September. The model sold 11,470 units, which is 3,855 units fewer than the 15,325 units sold in September 2023, reflecting a sharp 25.15% drop.
