Adult Occupant Protection

• 6 airbag version- Achieved a 3 star rating for adult safety
• 2 airbag version- Secured only 1 star due to the absence of side airbags and lack of electronic stability control (ESC)

Test results for 6 airbag Celerio

• Frontal Offset Deformable Barrier Test- 8.050 points
• Side Movable Deformable Barrier Test- 9.993 points
• Side Pole Impact Test- Passed with good head and pelvis protection

Key observations

• Head and neck protection for the driver and front passenger was rated good
• Chest and knee protection was weaker and the bodyshell and footwell area were considered unstable
• Side impact protection ranged from marginal to adequate, with the side pole test confirming good head and pelvis protection but weaker chest and abdomen protection

The 2 airbag version did not meet minimum safety standards for ESC and the side pole test was not conducted contributing to its low 1 star rating

Child Occupant Protection

• 6 airbag version- Scored 2 out of 13 points in vehicle assessment
• 2 airbag version- Scored 0 out of 13 points, highlighting limited protection for child passengers

Key observations

• Frontal crashes showed weak neck and chest protection for children
• The rear facing seat for an 18 month-old dummy performed well in side impacts
• The forward facing seat for a 3-year-old did not fully protect the head resulting in a lower overall child safety score
