Maruti S Presso Tweaked To Get A Jimny Makeover

In a surprising move, the Indonesian design house GH Style has prepared a body kit based on the new Jimny to style the S-Presso. The new version has attracted interest in Southeast Asia and India, where sales of the S-Presso have dropped for the past year.

Maruti Suzuki sold just 798 units of S-Presso in India in April 2025, tracing a continuing decline in consumer interest in the A-segment. Experts are beginning to see the facelift as a hint at how budget car designs of the past could be brought back.
Designing from Simple to Dramatic
Thanks to the GH Style body kit, the S-Presso takes much of its looks from the stylish Maruti Suzuki Jimny. The most important updates are at the front, where the S-Presso now comes with:
- Round headlights in an LED projector that also work as daytime running lights
- Sports Utility Vehicle SUZUKI branding displayed clearly on the grille
- New fog lamps set into the redesigned bumper, with halogen bulbs used inside
- New front design now includes new quarter panels
GH Style has made the wheel arches wider at the sides and used extra-thick cladding which gives the hatch a more SUV-like look. Now, the wheels are bigger and resemble off-road models and they’ve also been painted white to match the body. On the back, a firmer-looking bumper matches the front design, but the rear isn’t changed much, with the same tail lamps and boot area.
Nothing has changed in the powertrain
The improved looks do not change the engine which is still the 3-cylinder, 67 bhp, 90 Nm petrol unit in the S-Presso. You can only get the Tiburon with a manual or AMT transmission.
Is Budget Car Customization Showing a New Approach?
Even though Maruti Suzuki has not yet announced a Jimny-themed edition of the S-Presso, the GH Style body kit points to the rising number of car customization options at this price point. According to industry experts such unofficial touch-ups might eventually lead OEMs to update their compact SUVs for a new look, with demand for these cars rising.
Maruti Suzuki has remained focused on the small A-segment cars, while most other Indian makers shift to selling larger vehicles. Sales success for Jimny across the globe and in mainland Japan have made its design popular.
How the market reacted and received?
But because the S-Presso is not sold in the Jimny style from the factory, fans and design enthusiasts on online forums and social media have given the makeover their support. Many people are saying that the makeover has given the S-Presso both a more luxurious and all-round appearance, despite its compactness and low price. Because budget cars are now offering SUV-inspired features, similar trends could increase in popularity beginning in 2025.
