Skoda Auto India Announces Price Hike Of Up To 3%
Maruti Suzuki India is gearing up to unveil its maiden battery electric vehicle (BEV), the Maruti Suzuki e Vitara, on January 17 at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025.
The e Vitara is built on the HEARTECT-e platform and will be Maruti’s first all-electric offering.
Furthermore, to address the challenges of EV adoption, including charging infrastructure, Maruti Suzuki plans to introduce a robust EV ecosystem. This will include home charging solutions and a nationwide network of fast chargers available at its dealerships and service touchpoints.
The eVitara represents a global model built in India for markets worldwide. The electric SUV was recently unveiled by Suzuki Motor Corporation in Milan, Italy, underscoring its international appeal and India’s role as a hub for advanced EV manufacturing.
The teaser image revealed by Maruti Suzuki gives a hint at the design of the production version of the Vitara. This version of the electric car will have similarities with the eVX Concept.

Battery Pack and Electric Motor

In the international markets, the e-Vitara is being offered with two battery pack options: 49 kWh and 61 kWh.
Speaking on the announcement, Partho Banerjee, Senior Executive Officer, Marketing & Sales, Maruti Suzuki, said, “The e-VITARA is a testament of our unwavering commitment to sustainable mobility and technological innovation. With decades of automotive expertise, we have combined advanced electric technology with a customer-first approach to deliver something truly transformative. At Maruti Suzuki, we have always believed that to promote EV adoption, we need to create a holistic ecosystem that simplifies customers’ battery electric vehicle ownership journey.”
He further added, “A critical barrier to the adoption of EVs is the lack of accessible charging. To tackle this issue, we are committed to introducing a reliable and comprehensive EV ecosystem alongside the e-VITARA. This will include home charging solutions as well as a nationwide network of fast chargers available at Maruti Suzuki dealerships and service touchpoints. Our goal is to make EVs accessible, convenient, and appealing to a broader set of customers, and this is exactly what we have set out to achieve with the e-VITARA.”
