The eVX is Maruti Suzuki’s first pure-electric offering. It will be manufactured at Suzuki’s Gujarat plant, with 50% of the production earmarked for export markets like Europe and Japan. That being said, it will initially go on sale in India.
The eVX is being developed in partnership with Toyota, so there also will be a Toyota iteration that will go on sale a few months after the eVX’s launch.
DescriptionTKM currently sells four rebadged products from MSIL — Glanza from Baleno, Urban Cruiser Taisor from Fronx, Rumion from Ertiga and Urban Cruiser Hyryder from Grand Vitara — and they consist almost half of its total sales in the country.
When it comes to the Indian launch, the company has not revealed the exact date as yet. However, it has been reported that the company will announce the price details in the country.
Maruti Suzuki unveiled the eVX concept at the 2023 Auto Expo and later showcased it at the Japan Mobility Show in Tokyo. The concept was also featured at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2024 in February.
This new electric vehicle will be manufactured by Maruti Suzuki at their Gujarat facility.
Moreover, Maruti Suzuki is rigorously testing the eVX before the launch, with plans to prioritize exports for international markets as well.
The eVX, once introduced, will be aimed squarely at the Tata Curvv EV, Hyundai’s Creta EV, the BYD Atto 3 and Mahindra’s born EV line-up, which is also in the pipeline.
