German luxury carmaker Mercedes-Benz has showcased its Vision One-Eleven concept at the Nita Mukesh Ambani Cultural Centre in Mumbai. This stunning concept is said to be a reinterpretation of its 70s prototype models that blends with modern design ideas.
The car features a sleek supercar silhouette with the brand’s signature One-Bow design, marking a bold step forward in automotive styling. With this innovative design, Mercedes-Benz reinforces its position as a symbol of iconic luxury, highlighting its commitment to pushing the boundaries of design and technology for the future.
The exterior of the Vision One Eleven utilises a ‘one-bow’ design featuring clean-cut lines. It is finished in a deep metallic orange paint job, similar to the C111 Prototype, with the automobile sitting 1,170mm above the ground. The digital face, which has become a design feature for new Merc EVs, is also there, and it contains circular LED headlights. At the front, there is a big splitter and traces of venting. The sides are dominated by the massive gullwing doors of Vision One-Eleven.
The gullwing doors are huge, flush-fitting jobs with opaque side windows that feature a pixellated pattern. The upper surface is underpinned by strongly graphic aerodynamic elements on the under body. There’s a subtle front spoiler, but things get more aggressive along the side and at the rear, where a massive diffuser and cutaway body section leave a lot of visible rear tire. Like all automotive creatives, Wagener and his team are clearly influenced by ‘70s and ’80s endurance racing cars. The rear section of the Mercedes Vision One-Eleven features another digital fascia as well, a digital rear, if you will, which houses the round LED taillights and is surrounded by what appears to be a large brake light.
The modern interior of the Vision One-Eleven contrasts with the flat pixel display that runs across the entire width of the dashboard and takes up the shape of the two light strips at the front and rear.
Other key features of its state-of-the-art interiors include a rectangular, leather-clad steering wheel, a compact touchscreen with a high-resolution display, and a visionary user experience with the aid of augmented reality.
Furthermore, the Vision One-Eleven incorporates the latest in autonomous driving technology, offering a glimpse into the future of self-driving cars. Emphasizing eco-friendliness, Vision One-Eleven uses sustainable materials and manufacturing processes, aligning with Mercedes-Benz’s environmental goals.
Created and engineered at Mercedes-Benz’s International Design Center located in Carlsbad, California, the Mercedes Vision One-Eleven Concept pays tribute to the legendary Mercedes C111 experimental prototype from the 1970s, a rare gem with a production limited to just 15 units.
