Maruti’s e Vitara may soon be rolling out from Gujarat, with exports in sight, and a pitch to 100 countries. This article explores what happened, what it costs, and what you actually get for the price.
At Maruti Suzuki’s Hansalpur plant in Gujarat, Hon’ble Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be inaugurating and flagging off the e Vitara, the company’s first global battery electric vehicle.
The move will mark the start of production and an export push to over 100 countries, including Europe and Japan. The event will also highlight India’s growing auto exports, as well as the plant’s multimodal rail terminal.
The latter will dispatch up to 300,000 vehicles annually, streamlining outbound logistics to ports like Mundra.
While today’s ceremony kickstarts production and exports, the India-market Maruti eVitara launch 2025 is expected to happen around September 3, 2025. Multiple outlets indicate showroom showcases and early interest already underway.

Early guidance from industry trackers pegs the Maruti eVitara price at approx. ₹17 lakh to ₹22.5 lakh, ex-showroom, depending on battery and variant mix.
This would place it squarely against the Hyundai Creta EV, MG ZS EV, Tata Curvv EV, and Mahindra’s upcoming BE models.
Maruti seems to be leaning on its vast sales, service, and parts network to sweeten ownership value.
The eVitara range and features look competitive for daily use: two battery options, about 49 kWh and 61 kWh, WLTP range up to around 428 km.
There’s also a tech-forward cabin with a 10.1-inch infotainment screen, a 10.25-inch driver display, ventilated seats, a fixed glass roof, a 360-degree camera, and Level 2 ADAS.
India is expected to get single-motor FWD variants first, with power up to about 172 bhp. You can expect NEXA retailing, connected tech, and a charging ecosystem that Maruti plans to scale across top cities.
Aside from e Vitara launch, our Hon’ble PM will also inaugurate local production of hybrid battery electrodes at the TDS Lithium-Ion Battery plant, a Toshiba–Denso–Suzuki JV, targeting over 80% domestic value addition in battery components.
Maruti’s Gujarat facility will add rail logistics muscle and export readiness, with plans suggesting as many as 70,000 e Vitara units in FY26, most of them earmarked for overseas markets.
It is a bid to quickly climb EV ranks, powered by India’s cost advantage in electricity and scaled manufacturing.
