The new teaser clips give a closer look at some of the upgrades Mahindra has added to the upcoming XEV 9S. The biggest highlight is the new electric Power Boss Function for the front passenger seat which replaces the manual version used in the XUV700
What The New Feature Offers
Mahindra has now made the seat adjustment fully electric, allowing the second-row occupant sitting behind the front passenger seat to move the seat with a small switch panel.
- The controls allow changes to the backrest angle
- The seat base can also be moved for extra room
This is especially helpful for second row passengers who want to stretch out on long drives. The teaser confirms that the system is smooth and quick to use, which adds a luxury touch to the cabin
Interiors And Comfort Features in XEV 9S
The upcoming SUV also reveals several comfort-focused features that match its expected price bracket
- A large panoramic sunroof
- Beige interior theme, giving the cabin a light and premium feel
- Ventilated front seats, which are rare in electric SUVs at this price
- Well-designed rear door pad handles for easier access
These elements work together to make the XEV 9S stand out against other three-row EVs expected in India
Mahindra XEV 9S: A Born-Electric Three-Row SUV
The XEV 9S is important for Mahindra because it is the company’s first-ever three-row born-electric model. It is not just a modified ICE platform SUV. It is built from the ground up as an electric vehicle
How The Model Evolved
Mahindra has changed the name of this project over time, but the core idea has stayed the same.
- It was first introduced as the XUV.e8
- Later renamed as the XEV 7e
- Now, the final production version carries the name XEV 9S
The XEV 9S uses the same INGLO modular skateboard platform, the same base architecture used in models like the BE6 and the XEV 9e both of which arrived last year. This platform supports long wheelbases, large battery packs, and flexible seating layouts for EVs
Expected Powertrains And Pricing
Mahindra is expected to offer similar powertrain options to the ones seen in the XEV 9e. While the company has not revealed the final numbers yet, the 9e comes with two battery options and strong performance figures, so the XEV 9S is expected to follow the same setup
Price Expectations Ahead Of Launch
The XEV 9S will be placed above the 9e in Mahindra’s EV line-up. As a result, it is expected to fall in the ₹21 lakh to ₹30 lakh range
However, looking at Mahindra’s past launches, the company may announce a special introductory price when it reveals the SUV on 27 November. Detailed pricing for the remaining variants may come later
Why The XEV 9S Matters For The EV Market
The XEV 9S fills an important gap in the Indian EV segment. Right now, there are very few three-row electric SUVs, and even fewer with premium features like ventilated seats, panoramic sunroof, and the new Power Boss Function. With its INGLO platform and large cabin, the XEV 9S has the potential to attract both families and electric-SUV buyers who want more space and comfort
