Renault Kwid Test Mule Reveals New Details
A camouflaged Renault Kwid test vehicle was recently seen giving a clearer picture of the changes. The spy shots showed a small exhaust pipe at the rear confirming that this model is powered by a petrol engine and not an EV. Renault has already refreshed its Triber and Kiger earlier this year and the Kwid facelift seems to be the next step in its portfolio update
Renault Kwid ICE Facelift – Exterior Highlights
The facelifted hatchback borrows several styling cues from the Dacia Spring EV sold in Europe
Visible changes include:
- Y-shaped LED daytime running lights
- Pentagonal halogen headlamps
- A revised closed-off grille
- Squared-off wheel arches with thick cladding
- Flap-type door handles and sloping roofline
- Steel wheel covers similar to the Dacia Spring EV
At the rear, the facelift also carries Y-shaped tail lamps. Even under the camouflage, the car shows a cleaner and sharper design. A broad trim connects both tail lamps and will likely carry the Renault logo. These changes are expected to give the hatch a stronger street appeal
Renault Kwid Facelift Interiors
Inside, the updates are more modern. The spy shots reveal a larger touchscreen system possibly a 10 inch unit along with a redesigned steering wheel. A new 7 inch digital instrument cluster is also likely. These changes will improve the cabin experience although some features may vary once the production version is revealed
Renault Kwid ICE – Performance Details
The Renault Kwid ICE facelift will continue to use the 1.0-liter petrol engine. This unit produces 69 PS and 92.5 Nm of torque, paired with a 5-speed manual or a 5-speed AMT gearbox.
Renault is also offering CNG options across its lineup, including the Kwid. While these are not factory-fitted, dealers provide CNG retrofit kits through government-approved agencies. The kit is priced at Rs 75,000, and customers get a standard 3-year/100,000 km warranty
Renault Kwid EV – Possible India Launch
With electric vehicles gaining attention, the Renault Kwid EV is also under consideration for India. If launched, it could share hardware with the Dacia Spring EV.
Expected features of Kwid EV:
- 26.8 kWh battery pack
- Range of around 220 km (WLTP cycle)
- Two motor choices: 45 PS and 65 PS
If introduced, the Kwid EV will directly compete with Tata Tiago EV, MG Comet EV and Citroen eC3
Renault Kwid EV Update Or Both Versions?
It remains to be seen whether Renault will bring both ICE and EV models to India or only the electric version. For now, the Renault Kwid test mule confirms that the ICE facelift will arrive first, while the Renault Kwid EV update could follow soon after
