Skoda Auto Volkswagen India Private Limited has achieved a significant milestone at its chakan facility.

Skoda Auto Volkswagen India has successfully produced 500,000 engines at its advanced Chakan Manufacturing Plant, all built locally. This achievement showcases the manufacturing capabilities of the group and strengthens its commitment to the ‘Make in India’ initiative.
The locally manufactured engines are used for domestic and global markets. Moreover, the plant serves as a technological hub in Volkswagen’s global operations, highlighting India’s critical contribution to the automotive manufacturing domain.

These include the 1.0-litre TSI engine and the 1.5-litre TSI unit with Active Cylinder Technology. In India, the 1.0-litre and 1.5-litre TSI engines power the Skoda Kushaq and Slavia as well as the Volkswagen Taigun and Virtus models.
Notably, the Chakan plant is operational since 2014 and produces both the engines and cars for the Indian as well as the international markets.
The company’s India 2.0 strategy is a key part of this vision, emphasizing the development of affordable, high-quality vehicles and improving the overall customer experience. Skoda Auto Volkswagen India has also been making strides in sustainability, with a focus on electric mobility and green technologies
