Govt Eyes ₹3,000 Annual FASTag Pass for Unrestricted Highway Journeys
The government is reviewing an innovative digital tolling plan that would let drivers enjoy unlimited highway commutes for a flat annual fee of ₹3,000. This proposal offers two payment alternatives: one covering all national highways and expressways for a full year, and another based on the distance traveled—₹50 per 100 km—for less-frequent journeys. By leveraging sensor-driven systems, GPS tracking, and automated vehicle recognition, the new model seeks to eliminate reliance on traditional toll booths, reduce stoppages, and smoothen traffic flow.
