Tata Motors entered the electric passenger vehicle space in 2020 with the launch of the Nexon.ev. At the time, it stood out as India’s first widely accepted electric SUV. The model played a crucial role in introducing electric cars to a large number of Indian buyers
Over the years the Nexon.ev achieved another historic milestone by becoming the first electric car in India to cross 1 lakh sales. This success helped remove doubts around electric vehicles and encouraged more customers to consider EVs for everyday use
Tata Motors Commands a Major Share of the EV Market
Today, Tata Motors holds close to 66 percent share of India’s electric passenger vehicle market. This means that almost two out of every three electric cars sold in the country come from Tata
This strong market presence shows that buyers are no longer limiting EVs to short city drives. Many customers now depend on electric cars for regular commuting as well as longer trips highlighting improved confidence in range, charging access and reliability
Wide Electric Vehicle Portfolio for Indian Buyers
TATA.ev currently offers the most diverse electric car lineup in the Indian market. The range is designed to suit different budgets, usage needs and body style preferences
The electric portfolio includes:

Strong Charging Network Supports Tata EV Owners
To support the growing number of EV users, TATA.ev has developed a large charging ecosystem across the country. Customers have access to more than 2 lakh charging points which include home chargers, community charging setups and public charging stations.
The public charging network alone includes over 20,000 chargers. In addition there are more than 100 fast charging hubs placed along major highways. These hubs are designed to reduce charging time and make long distance travel easier for electric car owners

Tata Motors has also invested heavily in service and manufacturing support for electric vehicles. The company operates around 1,500 service bays that are dedicated to EVs. These facilities are supported by more than 5,000 trained technicians who handle electric vehicle servicing and repairs
Another key focus area has been local production. More than 50 percent of the components used in TATA.ev vehicles are now sourced or manufactured within India. This supports cost control, improves supply stability and strengthens the domestic EV ecosystem
Upcoming Electric Vehicles from Tata Motors
Looking ahead Tata Motors has a clear roadmap for expanding its electric vehicle lineup. In 2026 the company plans to introduce the Sierra.ev along with a new version of the Punch.ev
Later in 2026 the Avinya range of premium electric vehicles is expected to enter the market. By 2030 Tata Motors aims to launch several new electric models and updated versions of existing EVs further strengthening its position in the segment
