Expected to arrive later this year, the updated Tata Punch is gearing up for its debut. One of the company’s top-selling models, the Punch will now be introduced in a refreshed form. Several test mules have been seen on Indian roads, revealing small exterior tweaks and noticeable cabin upgrades.

Tata Punch Facelift – What’s Changing?

The facelift was earlier expected to adopt a look similar to its electric version, but recent spy images suggest that the basic styling has been retained. Many buyers prefer the current rugged design, which could be the reason for keeping a visible difference between the petrol/diesel models and the EV.

Exterior highlights:

  • Projector headlights with LED DRLs remain the same
  • Wide grille with Y-shaped inserts
  • Squared-off wheel arches with cladding
  • Stylish roof rails and door-side cladding
  • R16 dual-tone alloy wheels (likely to feature a new design, though camouflaged in the spy shots)
  • Rear section with shark-fin antenna and bold LED tail lamps

From what has been seen, the overall body shape is unchanged, though a few updated details at the front and rear can be expected.

Interior Upgrades

Most of the improvements are on the inside. The biggest change is the new 2-spoke steering wheel, similar to the one offered in newer Tata models. This unit gets a leatherette finish, an illuminated logo, and updated controls for audio and cruise functions.

Other key updates inside:

  • A 7-inch TFT digital instrument cluster is expected (instead of the larger 10.2-inch console used in Punch EV top trims).
  • A redesigned climate control panel.
  • The same 10.2-inch infotainment screen carried forward from the current model.

Features already available on Punch will continue, including:

  • Voice-assisted sunroof
  • Push-button engine start/stop
  • Rear AC vents
  • Fast USB charging port
  • Wireless phone charging pad

Safety Package

The safety equipment is also likely to be strengthened.

  • Six airbags may become standard across all trims.
  • Electronic Stability Program (ESP) to remain on offer.
  • Reverse parking camera expected to continue with improved resolution.

This will help Punch maintain its strong position among the safest compact SUVs in the segment.

Engine And Transmission Options

No changes are expected under the hood. The Punch facelift will continue with its current set of engines:

  • 1.2L Revotron petrol engine – 87.8 PS, 115 Nm, paired with a 5-speed manual or a 5-speed AMT gearbox.
  • CNG option – 73.5 PS, 103 Nm, available only with a 5-speed manual transmission.

This setup has already proven itself reliable and efficient, so Tata appears to be retaining it.

Market Performance

Punch has been a runaway success in India. It became the fastest SUV to cross 6 lakh units in under four years since its launch in October 2021. The model now contributes over 25 percent of Tata’s monthly sales and consistently ranks among the top five sub-compact SUVs.

With this facelift, the Punch will continue to compete against rivals like the Maruti Fronx, Hyundai Exter, and other sub-4m SUVs.
