The hot hatch Golf GTI will make its debut in India next month via CBU route.

Volkswagen Auto India is gearing up for launch of the Golf GTI hot hatch. VW will launch the Golf GTI in India by May 2025, as a completely built unit (CBU).

The automaker has not announced the price, but we can expect the ex-showroom price to be around Rs. 45-50 lakh. Moreover, the new Golf GTI will arrive in India in its Mk 8.5 avatar.

Volkswagen Golf GTI (Limited to 155 Units)

Our sources suggest that only 155 units will available in India. The Golf GTI will be coming in as an exclusive, homologation-free import, making it an instant collector’s item.

Also, some Volkswagen dealerships are now also accepting offline orders for the Golf GTI in India. Notably, this will be the first time the Golf GTI will be brought to India, the German brand had introduced the Polo GTI in our market back in 2016, in limited numbers.

Volkswagen Golf GTI Powertrain

The Volkswagen Golf GTI is powered by a 2.0L, 4-cylinder turbo petrol engine, which comes mated to a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. This setup generates a maximum power of 245bhp and a torque of 370Nm.

It offers a front-wheel drive system. Volkswagen claims that the Golf GTI can accelerate from 0 to 100km/h in 5.9 seconds. While, the top speed of the hot hatch is electronically limited to 250 km/h.

Volkswagen Golf GTI Design

On the design front, the new Golf GTI includes an illuminated Volkswagen badge at the front with angular LED headlights a redesigned bumper, and signature red accents. The hot hatch rides on 18-inch dual-tone alloy wheels with red brake callipers. Moreover, there’s a red GTI badge present on the front doors. At the rear, it boasts a diffuser and dual exhaust pipes. There are wrap-around taillights, with dual-tone full roof spoiler, which completes the look, making this hatchback stand out with an unmistakable sporty presence, the tailgate also sports a red GTI badge.

Volkswagen Golf GTI Interior and Features

Volkswagen offers the Golf GTI with an all -blacked-out cabin and tartan-clad sport seats.The hatchback will feature a fully digital instrument cluster and a 12.9-inch infotainment screen. It will get a 3-spoke steering wheel with GTI badging, adaptive cruise control, and 30-colour ambient lighting.

Volkswagen Golf GTI Safety Features

Coming to the safety features, the Golf GTI is expected to offer 6 airbags as standard, ADAS including adaptive cruise control, a 360-degree camera, emergency assist, emergency brake assist, lane assist and automatic high or low beam.
