This includes Kushaq, Slavia and Kylaq from Skoda and Taigun and Virtus from Volkswagen. Both sister brands are part of the Volkswagen Auto conglomerate. Here is all you need to know about the reason behind the recall and vehicles it will affect.

More then 47,000 Units Affected

In total, over, 47,000 units are covered in this recall. These were manufactured between between May 24, 2024, and April 1, 2025. Moreover, the exact number of units affected for each of the models is still unclear.  

The recall affects: 

  • 25,722 units of Skoda (Kylaq, Slavia, Kushaq) 
  • 21,513 units of Volkswagen (Taigun, Virtus)

Reason Behind The Recall

The manufacturer mentioned that there is an issue with the seat belt for the rear passengers. The recall has been announced to fix an issue related to the seatbelt buckle latch plate, which may break in case of a frontal impact, thereby putting the rear passengers of these cars at risk. 

According to SIAM (Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers). SAVWIPL identified a manufacturing defect involving the rear seatbelt buckle latch plate, which may break during a frontal collision, compromising passenger safety.

Whats Next?

Škoda Auto Volkswagen India has not put out an official announcement on this matter. However, the automaker will contact affected owners to bring in their vehicles for inspection and replacement of the part at no extra cost.
