Volvo Car India has achieved a significant milestone, surpassing 1,000 electric vehicle (EV) deliveries since entering the Indian market in November 2022. Volvo began its EV journey in India with the launch of the XC40 recharge; it was also the first locally assembled luxury electric SUV in India.
Volvo currently offers two electric models in India, which include the XC40 Recharge and C40 Recharge. Both electric SUVs are assembled locally and are being sold directly through their website.
All the Volvo EV customers also get exclusive membership to the brand’s luxury program called the “Tre Kronor Experience.”
Jyoti Malhotra, Managing Director of Volvo Car India, commented, “Reaching 1,000 EV deliveries is a significant milestone on our path to becoming an all-electric company by 2030. Strong customer reception and our focus on expanding India’s luxury EV market are driving our progress. We are confident that electric vehicles will play a crucial role in the future of mobility in India, and we are committed to being a leader in this space.”
Furthermore, EVs accounted for a substantial 28 percent of their total sales, contributing significantly to a 31 percent year-over-year increase.
Volvo will introduce one EV every year globally with the aim of becoming an all-electric brand by 2030.
