This move addresses pedestrian safety from the silent operation of EVs and aims to avoid any accidents. <\/span><\/p> <h2><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Why is AVAS Necessary?<\/span><\/b><\/h2> <p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Electric vehicles remain silent when they are run at a low speed. This silence makes it difficult for pedestrians to notice and often leads to accidents. To align with the global set standards, India has moved forward to implement AVAS in EVs. They include:<\/span><\/p> <ul style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> <li data-aria-posinset=\"8\" data-aria-level=\"1\"><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Passenger Cars such as EV sedans, hatchbacks, and SUVs.<\/span><\/li> <li data-aria-posinset=\"9\" data-aria-level=\"1\"><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Commercial Vehicles such as Electric buses, trucks, and vans.<\/span><\/li> <\/ul> <p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Two-wheeler and three-wheeler vehicles, like autorickshaws and bikes, are excluded from AVAS installation, even though their silent operation can harm pedestrians. <\/span><br \/> <span data-contrast=\"auto\">The AVAS installation proposal is a major step towards pedestrian safety regulations in India.
