Skoda India is gearing up for the launch of its first compact SUV, the Kylaq, early next year.

Skoda’s new ‘Modern Solid’ design language will debut with the Kylaq. The new SUV will aim to penetrate the subcompact SUV space.

The Kylaq SUV is likely to make its global debut at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo in January 2025. With production set to begin in October 2024.

The Kylaq compact SUV will share the same MQB A0 IN platform with the Kushaq and the Slavia. It will likely include the same 1.0-liter, 3-cylinder TSI petrol engine as the Slavia and Kushaq. This unit develops 114 bhp and 175 Nm and comes mated to a six-speed MT or a six-speed AT.

Notably, Skoda plans an annual production run of 50,000 to 70,000 units for the Kylaq. Initially aimed at the domestic market, Skoda also intends to export the vehicle to enhance economies of scale. Upon launch, the Kylaq SUV will rival the Hyundai Venue, Tata Nexon, Kia Sonet, and the Maruti Brezza.
