The 2025 M5 comes with updated exterior design, a powerful engine, and more sporty aesthetics, retaining the V8 engine. This is the first time that the M5 features an electrified powertrain.
2025 BMW M5: Exterior
The design of the BMW M5 is similar to the regular 5-Series sedan in India, featuring adaptive LED headlamps, a signature kidney grille with illumination finished in glossy black, chunky wheel arches, blacked-out ORVMs, and flush-fitting door handles.
The new M5’s side profile has a new look. BMW says all body panels, including the front and rear wheel arches, have been redesigned. The new M5 comes with a carbon fiber roof, reducing the weight by 30 kg compared to the model that features a panoramic sunroof. The carbon roof helps lower the car’s center of gravity. Other highlights of the new M5 include an M rear spoiler, twin exhaust pipes, and 20-inch lightweight alloy wheels.
At the rear, the LED taillights are similar to the regular 5-Series. The M5 comes with quad-exhaust pipes with diffusers for better airflow. There are sharp cuts and creases enhancing the character of the sedan.
2025 BMW M5: Interior
The interior of the new M5 features a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, 14.9-inch infotainment touchscreen, and head-up display, all of which display exclusive M-specific display graphics. It boasts a three-spoke flat-bottom leather steering wheel. Additional features include ambient lighting, four-zone climate control, a premium Bowers & Wilkins sound system, and a wireless charging pad.
2025 BMW M5: Powertrain
The BMW M5 gets a 4.4-liter V8 turbo-petrol engine with a plug-in hybrid powertrain that generates 727 PS and 1,000 Nm (combined). It is paired with an 8-speed automatic gearbox. The plug-in hybrid motor in the BMW M5 is powered by an 18.6 kWh lithium-ion battery pack capable of 7.4 kW AC charging. The plug-in hybrid setup has a WLTP-rated electric-only range of up to 69 km.
2025 BMW M5: Safety
Safety features on the BMW M5 include 8 airbags, crash sensors, and a tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS), as well as an advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) suite that includes front collision warning, lane departure warning with steering assistance, and driver attentiveness assistant.
