Škoda Auto India to launch its first electric car in India by September 2025

Skoda Auto will roll out its electric vehicle in the Indian market this year in September. Skoda India’s brand director Petr Janeba has now confirmed that the first EV will be launched by September 2025. “Our first electric SUV is coming by September latest,” he said.

As per the details shared by Autocar India, quoting the top official who said, “We now have the Elroq, which is also based on the MEB platform. So, the Elroq, Enyaq and the Enyaq Coupe are three cars based on the same platform. We will take the final call on which of these three will be coming to India after the EV policy from the government is finalised by March 2025,”
Moreover, the global lineup of Skoda EVs include the Enyaq and Elroq. While, the Enyaq is most obvious choice for the Indian market. The Enyaq has been under evaluation for India since 2023 and has been spotted testing multiple times. However, with the model receiving a mid-cycle facelift globally.
We can expect the Skoda Enyaq to be the first Skoda EV in India, followed by other future models including the Elroq and other locally-produced models. Both EVs, along with the Enyaq Coupe, share Volkswagen Group’s MEB platform, making them strong contenders for the Indian market.
Notably, Skoda already has two manufacturing units in India, in Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar and Pune. EVs are planned to be manufactured in their Pune plant.
The facility is also set to support EV production with deep localization efforts to make Skoda’s electric line up more affordable for Indian consumers.
