Next-Gen Audi Q5 Teased Ahead Of September 2 Debut

Audi has announced that it will reveal the third-generation Audi Q5 SUV on September 2. The Q5 is an important model for the Audi brand, since it’s its best selling vehicle.

The premium compact crossover, which slots between the Q3 and Q7 and targets BMW’s X3 and Mercedes’ GLC, will be officially presented on September 2.

Audi Q5’s History

The Q5 made its way to the United States in 2009. The first-generation Q5 was replaced by a second-gen model in 2016 for the 2017 model year. That means this third-generation model is right on schedule.

“The Audi Q5 has represented the success of Audi for more than 15 years,” says CEO Gernot Döllner. “With the third generation of our most successful SUV, we will now begin rejuvenating our SUV portfolio with efficient combustion engine models and hybrid versions.”

Audi Q5 : Design and Teaser Details

The next Q5 will carry a lot of the design language from the current Audi lineup but should look more aggressive than the current Q5. It also appears the team at Audi is moving the daytime running lights above the lamp, like the refreshed Audi Q7.

A closer look at the front also reveals the elongated shape of the headlights which are slimmer and more aggressive than before.

While Audi is yet to reveal detailed design specifics, significant changes are expected overhaul, both in terms of aesthetics and underlying architecture.

Audi Q5 India Launch

The next-gen model will be brought here, but Audi India has yet to reveal a launch timeline.

The current generation Audi Q5 was launched in India in 2021 and is available in two variants: Premium Plus and Technology, priced at Rs 65.51 lakh and Rs 70.80 lakh (ex-showroom), respectively.
