Toyota has ensured that the BEV retains the brand’s well-known off road strength. It uses body-on-frame construction with reinforced battery protection and maintains the same wading depth as the diesel version. The Multi Terrain Select system helps optimize grip on different surfaces, replicating low range torque delivery of a conventional 4×4 system

New Toyota Hilux Hybrid 48V- The Core Powertrain

The 48V hybrid system will become the central powertrain option for the 2026 New Toyota Hilux. Production of this variant is set to start in spring 2026

  • Engine- 2.8 litre diesel paired with a 48V lithium ion battery.
  • System Components- Electric motor-generator, DC-DC converter and energy recovery system

The hybrid system provides a refined driving experience with less vibration and noise, while maintaining the Hilux’s core capabilities. The setup also features Multi Terrain Select, Multi Terrain Monitor and a Panoramic View Monitor for enhanced off road visibility

Diesel and Petrol Power for Select Markets

Toyota will continue offering internal combustion versions of the New Toyota Hilux in markets that rely heavily on diesel or petrol engines

These variants include

  • 2.8 litre diesel engine with improved torque and emissions control
  • 2.7 litre petrol engine designed for regions with better fuel quality

These engines will be available across Eastern European markets and India is also expected to receive these configurations when the model launches next year. This ensures that customers in emerging markets continue to have affordable and practical options
