Hyundai Ioniq 9 Electric SUV Unveiled
Hyundai will offer the Ioniq 9 in three broad variants: long-range rear-wheel drive, performance all-wheel drive, and long-range AWD.
The vehicle comes in six- and seven-seat configurations with options to fully recline the first and second rows.
The power output of these models will range between 215 hp and 492 hp. The Performance model can go from 0-100 km/h in just 5.2 seconds, while the Long Range AWD variant takes a little longer at 6.7 seconds.
The IONIQ 9 will be able to charge from 10% to 80% in 24 minutes at high-capacity charging stations, and it is compatible with Tesla’s Supercharger network.
Moreover, IONIQ 9 will also offer enhanced convenience and design features as optional upgrades. Detailed specifications will be unveiled closer to specific market launches.
Hyundai Ioniq 9: Design
The Ioniq 9 comes with Hyundai’s “Aerosthetic” design philosophy, merging aerodynamic efficiency with visual appeal. The front of the car makes itself known with a pair of vertical LEDs set into the lower fascia below a light bar that extends from fender to fender.
The silhouette of the production car is also quite similar to the concept. The sleek, yacht-inspired roofline and extended wheelbase enhance both performance and passenger space.
At the rear, the Ioniq 9 maintains the theme with styling that stays true to the spirit of the concept car. Vertical brake lights using the same pixel design frame a massive panel of glass.
Notably, IONIQ 9 is the first Hyundai model to eliminate the roof antenna by dividing its functions between the windshield cover (for GPS and satellite radio), the instrument panel (for connected car services), and the tailgate glass (for FM/AM and digital multimedia broadcasting), contributing towards its advanced and minimalistic design.
Hyundai Ioniq 9: Powertrain & Range
Hyundai claims a maximum range of 620 km (WLTP cycle) on a single charge on the Long Range version. The Ioniq 9 LR RWD gets 218 BHP and 350 Nm, while the AWD adds a 95 BHP and 255 Nm motor to the front axle. The top-spec Performance version gets 218 BHP motors on each axle, allowing for a 0-100 km/h sprint in 5.2 seconds.
Hyundai Ioniq 9: Interior
On the inside, the Ioniq includes a 12-inch infotainment touchscreen and 12-inch digital instrument cluster—together called the ‘panoramic curved’display’—ambient lighting, roof-mounted air vents, multi-zone climate control, 100W USB-C ports in all three rows, and an 8-speaker sound system.
The Ioniq 9 is offered with six-seat and seven-seat configurations with claimed 1,899mm of headroom and 2,050mm of legroom in the second and third rows. The Ioniq gets massage function in the first two rows, while the second-row seats can swivel to face the third row, but only when the vehicle is stationary.
