Land Rover Defender V8 & PHEV Variants Discontinued In India

Land Rover Defender range has been revamped in India for 2024. The Land Rover Defender in India now offers only two engine options across seven variants, with the V8 and PHEV models discontinued.

Land Rover continues to offer the Defender in three body styles – 90, 110 and 130, and two engine options – a 2.0-litre turbo-petrol and a 3.0-litre diesel.

Prices for the Land Rover Defender now range from Rs 1.04 crore to Rs 1.57 crore.

The base Defender 90 is now available in a single X-Dynamic HSE trim priced at Rs 1.25 crore. It comes with a 3.0-litre diesel engine.

The 2.0-litre petrol engine is now available only in the 110 body style in X-Dynamic HSE trim, making it the sole petrol variant on offer. The 3.0-litre diesel engine, on the other hand, is offered across all three body styles and in three trims: X-Dynamic HSE, X, and Sedona Edition.

Land Rover is offering two variants of the Defender 130 in India. These include the X-Dynamic HSE and X, priced at Rs 1.47 crore and Rs 1.57 crore, respectively. This version of the Defender is only available with the 3.0-litre diesel engine.

Before the variant rejig, Land Rover Defender was available with five engine options. Apart from the 2.0-litre petrol and the 3.0-litre diesel that have been carried forward, there was a 3.0-litre petrol, a 5.0-litre V8 engine and a 2.0-litre plug-in hybrid (PHEV).

Notably, the recently introduced Defender Octa V8 is still available to order, but only within its limited allocation for India.
