Maruti Dzire Scores 5-Star BNCAP Rating, becomes first sedan to get high rating in BNCAP

The Dzire becomes the only Maruti car to be tested by both Bharat and Global NCAP.

Maruti Suzuki Dzire scored 5-star safety rating under the Bharat New Car Assessment Program (BNCAP). The Dzire compact sedan received 5 stars for both adult and child occupant protection tests.

It has become the first sedan in the country to receive a 5-star safety rating under the BNCAP crash tests.

BNCAP has so far tested 16 vehicles — all sport utility vehicles (SUVs) — under its crash safety evaluation program, making the Dzire the first non-SUV to earn the top rating. Bharat NCAP follows globally benchmarked protocols and aims to raise safety awareness among Indian car buyers.

The tested model of the new Maruti Dzire (Petrol– LXI 1.2L ISS 5MT). It comes equipped with various safety features, which include frontal airbags, side head curtain airbags, side chest airbags, belt pretensioners, belt load limiters, and ISOFIX. Safety assist technologies like ESC, pedestrian protection, and seat belt reminders are also present in the variant.

This program incorporates rigorous and comprehensive, testing and evaluation standards that are comparable with global safety protocols. It is aimed at raising safety awareness among customers in the country. I congratulate Maruti Suzuki on an impressive debut in Bharat NCAP, securing a 5-star safety rating for the All-New Dzire.”

Hon’ble Minister added, “I am also pleased to see that Maruti Suzuki, a mass market manufacturer, has fast-paced adoption of 6 airbags as standard across all variants of models covering all the segments. Six airbags from an entry hatchback to a premium SUV, is a significant stride by Maruti Suzuki towards vehicle safety. I am sure this will encourage other manufacturers to make 6 airbags a standard feature across all variants of their models. While the car industry strengthens its vehicle safety protocols, I strongly urge all 2 and 4-wheeler users, and pedestrians alike, to follow traffic rules, fasten seat belts and make road safety a shared responsibility.”
