Nissan Motor commences export of India-made Magnite SUV to South Africa

Nissan India has begun exports of the facelifted Magnite to South Africa. reinforcing India’s position as an export hub for the Japanese automaker, the company said.

The automaker had announced during the launch that it would be exporting the car to various markets from its Chennai plant.

The Japanese carmaker has started shipping the updated Magnite to foreign markets. Nissan has commenced exporting the subcompact SUV to South Africa. Nissan has also stated that the new Magnite will be exported to more than 65 international markets, including left-hand-drive regions.

Notably, South Africa is the first country to receive the new Magnite, which entered the Indian market on October 4. The SUV is being manufactured at Nissan’s Alliance JV plant in Chennai.

“Since the launch of the Nissan Magnite in 2020, we have seen overwhelming acceptance and demand from customers in the South African market for the made-in-India compact SUV,” said Frank Torres, Divisional Vice President for the Africa, Middle East, India, Europe, and Oceania regions, and President of Nissan India Operations.

The Magnite is the only model sold by Nissan in India. Launched in December 2020, the SUV has garnered cumulative sales (domestic + export) of over 150,000 units till now.

In India, the Nissan Magnite is priced from Rs 5.99 lakh (ex-showroom). The compact SUV is offered with a 1.0-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine that makes 71 BHP and 96 Nm, mated to either a 5-speed manual or a 5-speed AMT.
