Range Rover special edition ‘Himalayan’ soon to launch in India
After seeing great success with the Ranthambore Edition, JLR is getting ready to release a Range Rover Himalayan Edition which will only be available in India. Speaking to the media recently, the company ensured its commitment to local designers while crafting special premium cars for India.

At a press conference, Martin Limpert, managing director from JLR, said “Our Ranthambore Edition was well received, and our customers want more India-based specials, so we are planning another, and this one is based on the Himalayas.”
Though official information on the Himalayan Edition is still concealed, many assume it will use light outside colors such as white or grey and have an environment inspired by the Himalayan environment, much as the Ranthambore Edition drew on the tiger reserve’s theme.

In its first launch, the Ranthambore Edition was made in 12 units and all were bought within one week. Its black body was matched with Corinthian Bronze and Anthracite exterior details and the interior was finished in semi-aniline leather upholstered in Caraway and Perlino, decorated with embroidery imitating tiger stripes. The special shape was designed to celebrate India’s conservation of wildlife.
It can be expected that the Himalayan Edition will use the same approach, placing Range Rover’s luxury character alongside inspirations from Indian geography.

Local assembly process plays a key role in driving our growth

JLR is expanding its India operations and this is part of that move. In the financial year ending in 2025, the organization saw a 40% rise in annual sales and finished the year at the third place among India’s luxury car manufacturers. Most of the growth was due to 2023 Range Rovers and Range Rover Sports being built locally which saw sales rise by 2.5 times compared to 2021.
Officials said assembling cars in India allows them to better customize models for Indian customers at a lower cost and with faster delivery.
“Customers value exclusivity. These bespoke models help us offer something truly unique while making full use of our local manufacturing capabilities,” added Limpert.

Industry insiders agree that special edition vehicles are helping luxury car brands in India. Since more people with money are interested in personalization and cultural design, JLR has introduced limited-edition models that are different from regular options.
Once the Himalayan Edition of Range Rover is launched, it is expected to become very popular with collectors and fans of luxury SUVs.
